B2B and B2C Are Really P2P (don’t forget the individual)

Last week I attended several events where at least one issue has come up over and over and it’s in regards to how businesses and people interact with each other. B2B and B2C are really P2P. Translated: Business to business and business to customer are really people to people interactions. I’ve bolded these themes from my notes from these events.

First was an Atlanta conference called SoCon’09.

It was a gathering of about 325 folks, mostly in the area, who all are either social media practitioners or want … Continue Reading

Greenville Social Media Club Event

The Social Media Club in Greenville, SC was started in early December by Trey Pennington and already has over 200 members.  They will have their first official meeting Monday morning at 7:30 and it looks to be a good one!
Our speaker will be Geno Church, a word-of-mouth-marketing trailblazer and creative genius. You’ll get the chance to rub elbows with the “social elite” or be around others that are interested in growing their business through social media.

Two Greenville ex-pats (Steven Weathers in Shanghai and Rob Williams in Orlando) will pick up the live stream … Continue Reading

SWOMfest Recap

Last week I was able to go to SWOMfest in Austin, TX (put on by the Society for Word of Mouth). It was a great time and I learned a lot, but others have written up notes and recaps so well that I’m going to point to and quote from them!

But first, if you missed my audio notes on one of my favorite sessions, Purpose from Haley Rushing, you can listen to them here…. Continue Reading

Audio Purpose Notes from SWOMfest

I’m back from SWOMfest and it was great! I took about 5 minutes sitting in the Austin airport to audio record some thoughts and reflections about one of the sessions on Purpose. I hope to unpack some of this more later as text, but for now, here’s my audio reflections:

Going to SWOMfest

I’ll be attending the first ever SWOMfest in Austin, TX this week.  I’m really looking forward to it.

SWOM stands for Society of Word of Mouth.

I’m really looking forward to re-connecting with some and meeting new folks.  Leave a comment if you’re going as well!

Since Dell is a sponsor, maybe I can get mine fixed! The screen on my laptop doesn’t work but I have an external monitor.  My laptop is like a desktop now! :-(

See y’all in Austin!

UPDATE: They are going to try and livestream the conference.

Take Aways from BlogOrlando

BlogOrlando was one of the best conferences I’ve ever attended.  It wasn’t just about the content (though it was great!), it was about the connections.  It was pretty easy to make connections and the conversations were easily started and continued with ease.

I was fortunate enough to be part of the team to pull the conference together.  Going into the conference I contributed with blog and twitter duties.  During the conference I was around to make sure things like power cords were in place and helped the speakers in the … Continue Reading

BlogOrlando

Later this week I’ll be attending the third BlogOrlando unconference.  You can read all about the sessions we’ll have.  Though I’m not presenting, I have been helping with the blogging and twittering for it.

I’m really looking forward to reconnecting with some people, meeting some new folks, and taking part in the unconference.

Attending BarCampOrlando

On Sunday I will be heading over to BarCampOrlando for the Media Day portion of the “conference”. I put it in quotes because there are no keynote speakers or anything like what you’d expect at a conference. Instead, each person attending is encouraged to give a short presentation.

It’s going to be a great opportunity to meet and learn from other people on Media Day. It is expected to have close to 200 people, mostly from the Orlando area, attending who…
…know film, music, photography, graphic design, … Continue Reading
