Facebook Page

Facebook continues to change and grow. Recently they made a lot of changes to the Page feature where brands can create a page and people become fans.  It’s similar to a Group in Facebook, but there are some differences.

Orangejack Fan Page in Facebook

For starters, Pages are public and therefore index-able by Google and other search engines while Groups are not. While Groups allow members to invite others, Pages allow the administrators to email the fans of the page. Additionally, Page activity shows up in a fan’s Facebook home page News Feed.

Those are the main differences I can tell at this point.  Do you know other differences?  If so, leave a comment, or…

Fans of the Orangejack Facebook Page can utilize the Discussion Board where there is a thread asking this very question! It’s the discussion board that I’m really wanting to experiment with as an extension of the Orangejack Network of Websites (TM). Though I’ve had plenty of experience participating and running discussion board forums, I’ve never had one for Orangejack.

I’d like for this entire Facebook presence to be all about using the Internet better so the discussion board can be used by you to ask questions, share interesting insights, and answer other people’s questions.

Using a Facebook Page is certainly a quick and easy way to set up a discussion board for your brand. A couple of drawbacks I already see is that it has a horrible/ugly URL and the content belongs to Facebook, not me.  But I think it’s a great idea to give it a try.

So if you’re on Facebook, I encourage you to become a Fan of Orangejack on Facebook and then share stuff with the group there. Come participate in the Discussion Boards and ask questions and provide answers for others.
