[...] It’s tough to show up in the search engines well. It takes work but is obtainable. It takes someone who knows what they are doing to optimize a website so that it ranks well. When you rank well you show authority and relevancy without paying for it. Most people assume that’s better than someone paying to rank well. And our experience has taught us that the organic listings are reliable. It’s just how Google works.
[...] How Google Works | Orangejack LLC Google is used by about 60% of US Internet searches (Yahoo is #2 around 20% and MSN around 10%, AOL and Ask are about 5% each). They maintain their huge lead because they return the most relevant results for a search. If they didn’t, we’d use a different search engine. So how does Google do it? How do they know what are the best sites to refer you to for your search? [...]

Very informative. SEO is becoming increasingly complex - now even some people are looking to lower their results!

It will be interesting to see what happens as Google's linguistics capabilities deepen.

There is definitely an art and a science to Google Pagerank. I think one of the things that tends to go unnoticed by some companies is the critical role that good search optimization in launching a product, brand, or company website. (And !YES! all three are needed!!)

PS - Three cheers for college football!
