Text Messaging on the Rise

Text messaging has grown from 17 million to almost 2 trillion this decade.

I’m not shocked by this. In Asia, Europe, and Africa, texting is perhaps the most common use for a cell phone.

Do you use your mobile phone for texting?  If so, why?

@Jerry - I'm curious, what do you and your kids use texting to accomplish?
  • Yes, I average about 100 text messages each month, but each of my kids has had at least one month where they exceed 10,000 messages. While we are happy that they are not soaking up our family's shared minutes, this has become a bit excessive in their lives.
